Dominique Nickson, MD is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon fellowship trained in foot and ankle trauma, reconstruction and sports injuries. During residency, Dr. Nickson also developed a love for arthroscopy and sports medicine. Dr. Nickson routinely performs knee and shoulder arthroscopy, meniscus surgery, ACL reconstruction, and rotator cuff repair. The marriage between foot and ankle and sports medicine is natural since 40 percent of all sports injuries are below the knee. Dr. Nickson’s primarily focuses on Feet, Ankles, Knees and Shoulders.

Dr. Nickson received his Doctorate in Medicine from Case Western Reserve School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating from medical school, he completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the State University of New York Brooklyn Health Science Center. He went on to complete his foot and ankle fellowship training at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

Shannon Marrero, PA-C

McKinney Physician's Assistant

Shannon Marrero, PA-C, is a physician assistant at Next Step Orthopedics in McKinney, Texas, serving the surrounding areas including Frisco, Allen, Plano, and Prosper, Texas. She has over five years of experience in family practice and urgent care.

Shannon attended Texas Woman’s University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in chemistry. She then completed her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. She is licensed by the Texas Medical Board, and is DOT certified and NCCPA certified.

She also holds a DEA license and is certified in Basic Life Support.

Following her medical training, Shannon worked several clinical clerkships in emergency medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry, geriatrics, OB/GYN, family medicine, and general and surgical oncology. She also worked for Family Care Medical Center and CareNow Urgent Care, before joining the Next Step Orthopedics team.

Shannon is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants.
